Zack Snyder opens up about the difference between his movies and the MCU

After a long wait, Zack Snyder’s Justice League is finally here. And as fans count the days for the release, Zack Snyder took the opportunity to talk about his hero universe. Now, in a new interview, the director has explained the difference between his films and the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Speaking to the NY Times, Snyder said:

“Obviously I take these characters and their mythologies very seriously. I would like them to be complete characters, already existing in this world. I don’t think it’s cool to joke at their expense. And it is a vision that we had, a complete and developed universe, something that we wanted to pursue to the end. I knew before ‘Batman vs Superman’, when we did ‘Man of Steel’, that Marvel was doing something else. They make, at the highest level, this popular action comedy with emotion. And they were great at it. Trying to replicate this is crazy because they are already good at it. What DC has is mythology on an epic level, and we’re going to take you on this wonderful journey. But frankly, I was the only person to say that.

Zack Snyder behind the scenes

When asked if he had thought about doing something Marvel-style again, Snyder said no.

“I don’t know how to do anything other than what I have done. A director has a skill which is his point of view. That’s all you got. If you’re trying to emulate another way of making a movie, you’re a tightrope. ”
