Prepare to become a folder!
Avatar: The Legend of Aang has created a universe so vast that fans have never contented themselves with completing the adventures of the last airbender. Thankfully, the stories on Incredible Elementary Folders will continue in the form of a tabletop RPG developed by studio Magpie Games.
The core book, containing all the essential rules of the game, will be released in February 2022. It provides a step-by-step guide to creating the characters, as well as details on the combat and evolution system.
In addition to adapting elements from The Legend of Aang, it has been confirmed that the game will also allow you to create adventurous adventures in the universe of The Legend of Korra – which takes place decades after the events of the first series. .
Two extensions are currently in the company’s plans. The first is scheduled for August 2022 and is expected to be called Republic City. It will detail everything a player needs to create missions and explore the political capital of The Legend of Korra.
The second expansion, dubbed The Spirit World, does not arrive until February 2023 and should allow not only to pass through the portal of the spirits, but also to include them in the game world – as it happens in the third season of the cartoon.
Magpie Games CEO Mark Diaz Truman left the following statement for fans:
“We are extremely excited to bring the stories of brave Masters and unwavering friendships into tabletop RPGs. We know that many fans of both series have been waiting for this moment for years! We are very excited to be working with Asian designers like James Mendez Hodes to bring the world of Avatar Aang and Avatar Korra to life while maintaining the diverse and authentic spirit of both series. “
What is a tabletop RPG?
You might be more used to playing RPGs in video games, but the idea is basically the same. Tabletop RPG is a type of game where you create your character freely and travel on a journey where conflicts are determined by a dice roll.
The characters are described by sheets of paper with all their information and the players interpret their decisions as real actors. The idea is to come up with a story similar to that of video games, but totally your own. It is only your decisions and your luck in the data that determine what will happen. The most famous Table RPG game is Dungeon & Dragons, which appears in several series like Community, Adventure Time and The Big Bang Theory.
