The Flash’s John Wesley Shipp will be in the series’ second season

Stargirl, a television series that depicts the adventures of heroine Courtney Whitmore (Brec Bessinger) alongside a new generation of Justice Society, was a big hit on the DC Universe platform last year. The second season is already in development and has just acquired an interesting novelty: John Wesley Shipp, who played Jay Garrick in The Flash, will be present in the next episodes.

According to Entertainment Weekly, John Wesley Shipp will reprise the role of Jay Garrick, the flash of the golden age of comics, in Stargirl. The character’s involvement is described as “in a pivotal flashback episode, which establishes the Golden Age Flash as one of the members of the Earth-2 Justice Society.”

The website also states that the episode that will introduce Jay Garrick to the series will serve as a “miniature crossover,” which will officially take Stargirl into the same multiverse of DC heroes on the CW, Arroverso, which will begin showing the attraction. from its second season. In this way, Stargirl and her fellow heroes are officially on the same continuity as shows like The Flash, Legends of Tomorrow, Batwoman, and Superman & Lois. This will be the heroine’s first participation in a crossover.

John Wesley Shipp in the DC series

John Wesley Shipp’s relationship with the DC series is long and somewhat unusual, as the actor has played several characters, all of which relate to The Flash mythology. It all started with The Flash, a 1990 series, in which he played the Scarlet Sprinter for 22 episodes and was immortalized by the role. Decades later, the actor returned to the DC Universe in the new Flash series, this time playing the hero’s father, Henry Allen. But it didn’t stop there: As early as the second season, the series began exploring the multiverse, and the actor reappeared, this time as Jay Garrick, the Flash of Earth-3.

John Wesley Shipp even played a third role in this new sequel, reprising his version of the ’90s Flash, now established as Earth-90’s scarlet sprinter, during the Elseworlds (Time Tunnel, Brazil) crossover. Apparently the Jay Garrick who will be in Stargirl is the same one I appeared in The Flash, which after the Crisis on Infinite Earths event is to have its origin changed from Earth-3 to Earth-2.
