Even stranger than Quantumania!
Ant-Man 3 received its official title on Disney’s last Investors Day, with confirmation that the leadership will continue under the command of Peyton Reed and with the return of Paul Rudd, Evangeline Lilly, Michelle Pfeiffer and Michael Douglas in their roles. respective. Now, the film’s production title has also been revealed, and it’s pretty unusual (via CBR).
For those who do not remember, the production title is a name adopted by the studios during external recordings, and is intended to mislead the press and the public so that the images of the project are not released. In the case of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, the title chosen was Goat Rodeo (Rodeio de Cabras, in free translation). In English, it’s a phrase used to refer to “something that’s totally, unbelievably and disastrously wrong, and all you have to do is sit back and watch the disaster,” as defined by Dictionary.com.
It could be that the title was chosen because it relates to what we will see in the plot of the film. It is already known that Ant-Man 3 will feature Kang the Conqueror as an antagonist, and it is speculated that his actions and his connection to the Quantum Realm, which was seen in the previous two films of the franchise, will have an impact on the entire MCU, perhaps catastrophically. In the comics, the character travels through time, always trying to change the story to conquer Earth.
Commenting on the film, director Peyton Reed said he couldn’t reveal much, but suggested that Ant-Man’s third film will bring a lot of news and be a lot bigger than the previous ones:
“There are some very, very, very exciting things in store that of course I couldn’t talk about right now, like Marvel is. I think the third Ant-Man movie will be much bigger, more complete than the first two. It will have a very different visual model. “
Another possibility would be that the title of the production and the surprises that we will see in the production are tied to the Multiverse. There are rumors that Quantumania will face the aftermath of what happens in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, although Spider-Man 3 is expected to work with him in his plot as well. Given the scale of an event linked to the Multiverse, it would not be absurd for the two productions to deal with the same theme, approaching it differently.
Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is slated to launch in 2022.
