The beloved series is coming to an end!
The beloved Brooklyn Nine-Nine crime comedy series will end in season eight.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, the final season of the series starring Andy Samberg and Andre Braugher will have 10 episodes and its release will be postponed for creators Dan Goor and Mike Schur to bid farewell.
Via Twitter, Dan Goor confirmed the news with an open letter to fans. Check-out:
“I’m so grateful to NBC and Universal Television for allowing us to give these characters and our fans the ending they deserve. When Mike Schur and I introduced the pilot episode to Andy, he said, ‘I am, but I think the only way to tell this story is exactly 153 episodes,’ which was crazy because it was exactly the number that Mike and I had imagined.
I feel incredibly lucky to have worked with this incredible cast and team for eight seasons. They are not only some of the most talented people in the business, they are all good human beings who have become family. But above all, I feel lucky to have the best fans in the world. The fans who literally saved us from cancellation. Fans who fill us with joy. Ending the show was a tough decision, but in the end we felt it was the best way to honor the characters, the story, and our viewers. I know some people will be disappointed that the show ends so soon, but honestly, I’m thankful that it has lasted so long. This is actually the title of my sex tape.
Brooklyn Nine-Nine, which was on Fox and was rescued by NBC when it was first canceled, focuses on the day-to-day life of a police station in the Brooklyn, New York neighborhood. The main characters of the series are detectives of very different personalities, who end up changing their daily lives with the arrival of the severe new Captain Raymond Holt.
Brooklyn Nine-Nine’s eighth season is slated for release in late 2021 and early 2022.
