Monica Rambeau’s interpreter has revealed some details about the project!
The first two episodes of WandaVision surprised MCU fans. Without any context or explanation, fans watched Scarlet Witch and Vision live a quiet life in the suburbs, visiting the 1950s and 1960s. But for those who still had doubts about the show’s length, actress Teyonah Parris, who lives Monica Rambeau, has confirmed that what we are watching happens after the events of Avengers: Ultimatum.
In an interview with TVLine, Parris put an end to the theories that WandaVision could be like Black Widow, showing something that was happening in the past of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
“WandaVision starts right after the Ultimatum events. And for Monica, it’s obviously years after we last saw her as a girl on Captain Marvel.
According to her, the series will explore what happened to her character during all these years:
“We are going to find out what happened to her over the years that we have lost, how she has grown and evolved.”
Who is Monica Rambeau?
Monica Rambeau was played by Akira Akbar in Captain Marvel, set in the 1990s. Daughter of Maria Rambeau and friend of Carol Danvers, she met the Skrulls and discovered that the Captain was able to do with her powers.
In WandaVision, the character is played by Teyonah Parris and appears as Geraldine, being one of the friends Wanda makes in this reality. According to behind-the-scenes photos, Monica is working with SWORD, the organization that appears to be investigating what is happening to the Scarlet Witch. Parris will reprise his role in Captain Marvel 2.
In the comics, Monica Rambeau is a great heroine and part of the Avengers, being the first woman to use the name Captain Marvel. Currently, the character uses the code name Spectrum and is able to fire energy bursts and fly.
The third episode of WandaVision will air next Friday (22) on Disney.
