Producer reveals conceptual art of a film location

After more than ten years of the release of James Cameron’s Avatar, the franchise is set to return to theaters in weight, with four films confirmed. Filming for Avatar 2 and 3 was cut short last year due to the Covid-19 pandemic. However, production returned in June of last year and producer Jon Landau has now released a new image of one of the locations we’ll see in Avatar 2.

On his Instagram account, Landau shared a new concept art that shows the village of Metkayina, a Na’vi nautical clan that we will meet in Avatar 2 (ComicBook):

In the caption, the producer spoke about the illustrator responsible for the image and thanked the production design team:

“Tomorrow, as part of our Behind Pandora stories, we will have the participation of conceptual artist Jonathan Bach. In preparation, I thought to share one of the concept illustrations he created for the village of Metkayina. This is just one of the many amazing images he and the rest of our art department created for the Avatar footage. Thanks to everyone on the production design team! “

The second Avatar movie will feature the return of names like Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, Sigourney Weaver, Stephen Lang, among others. Additionally, the cast will include additions such as Kate Winslet (Titanic), Cliff Curtis (Hobbs & Shaw), Edie Falco (Soprano Family), Brendan Cowell (Game of Thrones), Michelle Yeoh (Star Trek: Discovery), Jemaine Clement (Lego Batman: The Movie), CJ Jones (Escape), Oona Chaplin (Game of Thrones), David Thewlis (Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban) and Vin Diesel (Fast and Furious).

Avatar 2 has a release date of December 16, 2022. The remaining films in the franchise are slated for release every two years, with Avatar 3 slated for December 20, 2024, Avatar 4 for December 18, 2026, and Avatar 5 for December 22, 2028.
