Ultimate Beatdown 17 will be taking place in Johor Bahru this August and the long running Malaysian promotion will be handing out a title for the first time with Keith Alden and Chaitanya Gavali set to fight for the featherweight strap.

The organization was founded in 2009 by Melvin Yeoh who would go on to find fame with ONE along with a number of Ultimate Beatdown alumni including Nik Harris, Brad Robinson, Juan Wen Jie, Edward Kelly and Major Overall.

The two 145 lbers competing for the belt in August are both Ultimate Beatdown veterans. Alden (3-0-0-1) hails from Dublin but resides in Singapore and is riding a three fight winning streak while Indian Gavali (3-1) has won his last two.

Gavali started out with Super Fight League going 1-1 for the Indian promotion although the loss came in a fight that he took at very short notice. He trains at Evolution MMA in Mumbai but his last two fights have both taken place on Malaysian soil.

Alden is a member of the competition team at Evolve MMA and fought to a majority decision draw with well known Malaysian featherweight Muhammad Hanif bin Zainal on his pro debut in 2012. He has since won three fights out of three under the Ultimate Beatdown banner.

The exact date and venue for Ultimate Beatdown 17 will be released in the coming weeks.

Ultimate Beatdown was founded by Malaysian MMA pioneer Melvin Yeoh in 2009 making it one of the longest running promotions in the region.
