Korean MMA promotion ROAD FC has announced some big signings ahead of its first-ever China card.

Confirmed is former UFC lightweight Zhang Lipeng, who makes his debut with ROAD FC against Korean Taekwondo master Hong Young-Ki.

Since being released by the UFC earlier this year, Zhang has made the move to Kunlun where he recently notched up a win against Makoto Maeda at its 4 November card in Kazakhstan.

ROAD has also announced the signing of one of China’s most well-known and celebrated Sanda Champions and MMA fighters, Zhao Zilong, who has trained out of the famed Xi’an Sports University.

Zhao is one of China’s most highly decorated Sanda athletes, with a Sanda record of 25-5 with 10 KOs. He has twice been crowned the National Champion – the King of Sanda.

Zhao will make his return to MMA after a two-year hiatus. In his last match he submitted Li Jixiang in just 47 seconds to win the RUFF Light Heavyweight Championship.

Stepping up to face Zhao at light heavyweight will be Japan’s legendary “Giant Killer” Ikuhisa Minowa, fondly known as Minowa Man to his legions of fans.

The pro-wrestling-based grappler counts 41 submission finishes in his 60 wins, however his KO of Kim Hoon at ROAD FC 13 in his celebrated 100th match will go down as one of his most memorable wins on record.

As previously announced, K-1 wrecking machine and Bellator veteran “Mighty Mo” Siala-Mou Siliga and Korea’s home-grown K-1 veteran Myung Hyun-Man will meet in a clash of two verified striking supermen.

ROAD FC 27 will take place on 26 December at the Shanghai Oriental Sports Center.
