Just days after defending her atomweight title, Angela Lee will again put her title on the line against unbeaten Brazilian fighter Istela Nunes.
The bout will take place in Singapore on 26 May at the Singapore Indoor Stadium and likely serve as the headliner for ONE: Dynasty of Heroes.
Nunes, a two-time Muay Thai world champion with an unblemished professional record of five wins, most recently stopped Mei Yamaguchi with a closely-contested split decision win.
After capturing the inaugural women’s atomweight title with a victory over Mei Yamaguchi in 2016, Lee waited almost a year until defending her belt. The quick turnaround for Singapore is something she made clear ahead of her Bangkok bout.
“I said at the beginning of the year that I will make 2017 one to remember,” Lee said.
“I will keep my promise of being as active as I possibly can and I can’t wait to get right back in there.
“I’m ready to do it again. Istela Nunes had better be ready to go to battle, because this time I’m defending the title on my turf.”
Victor Cui, CEO of ONE Championship, Cui described Nunes as a worthy challenger and said both women will have a tremendous fight on their hands.
