BAGUIO HAS PROVEN TO BE THE MOST FERTILE BREEDING GROUND FOR FILIPINO TALENT.
PXC’s quest to discover the next Mark Striegl or Eduard Folayang continues with an amateur show in Baguio this weekend that features 10 fights with bantamweights Stephen Loman and Genil Fancisco colliding in the main event.
Baguio has proven to be the most fertile breeding ground for up and coming Filipino talent and that is largely due to the success of Team Lakay although there are now numerous other camps in the province.
A Team Lakay fighter will be headlining PXC Laban – Baguio 2 with Loman (4-1 pro, 1-0 amateur) facing Francisco (1-2 pro) from D’Elements Gym in Manila in a bantamweight fight.
The latter is coming off an impressive submission win at PXC 48. The co-main event pits the same two camps against one another with Joshua Pacio (2-0 pro, 1-0 amateur) from Team Lakay’s La Trinidad campus taking on newcomer Jonnil Borbon who trains at D’Elements and will be travelling from Manila to compete.
The fights will all be fought under PXC’s amateur ruleset which means they will consist of three three minute round and the gloves will be heavier than those used in the professional ranks.
Elbows to the head are also not allowed. The card is set for the Baguio Convention Centre on 11 July.
