ONE Championship has today confirmed an event which will be taking place on 20 June in China. It will be the promotion’s second show to be held on the Chinese mainland and is set for the southern city of Guangzhou.

The card is entitled ONE: ‘Dynasty of Champions’ and the fights will be held in the 18,000 Guangzhou International Sports Arena which has held pre season NBA games and recently played host to a Katy Perry concert.

The press release stated that information regarding the actual fight card would be released at a later date but there is a strong possibility that ONE Championship will use the four man tournament format which was showcased in Beijing.

The Beijing card last December was the promotion’s first in Mainland China and ONE Championship CEO Victor Cui says it was a tremendous success.

“Our last show in Beijing was sold out and such a huge success with tremendous support from the Chinese fans. We put on an absolute classic with an unforgettable main event that got fans up on the edge of their seats. This time, we are even more excited to be back in China to do it all over again.”

China is seen by many as an MMA market with enormous potential for growth and Cui says he sees it as an attractive destination for ONE Championship.

“Mixed martial arts is the fastest-growing sport in the world as well as in China. As such, we have seen the rise of a lot talented Chinese fighters in the past few years. It makes perfect sense for Asia’s largest MMA promotion to penetrate the largest country in Asia and tap into the potential of the world’s largest population.”

Next up for Cui’s promotion is ONE: ‘Warrior’s Quest’ which is set for the Singapore Indoor Stadium this Friday night and will be headlined by a 155 lbs title bout between Shinya Aoki and Koji Ando and will also feature Dejdamrong Sor Amnuaysirichoke and Roy Doliguez vying for the 115 lbs title.

Both events will be available to purchase online for US$9.99.
