MALAYSIAN INVASION MIXED MARTIAL ARTS RETURNS TO FIND ITS LATEST CROP OF AMATEUR STARS.
After two successful tournaments that has unearthed some of Malaysia’s best mixed martial arts superstars, Malaysian Invasion Mixed Martial Arts (MIMMA) is back to unearth MMA talent for its next season.
Mixed martial arts practitioners will be able to showcase their skills at City Square in Johor Bahru tomorrow. MIMMA is organized by prepaid mobile provider Tune Talk.
The Johor leg is the first of a five-city tour across Malaysia. Tryouts will also take place in Sabah, Sarawak, Penang and Selangor. Following the highly successful run last year, MIMMA has established itself as the best amateur mixed martial arts fighting championship in Asia if not the world.
The coverage received globally was tremendously enormous with 90 million impressions made on Facebook and 500,000 hits on mimmalive.tunetalk.com during the Grand Finals capturing eyeballs from 101 countries.
The new season will feature two new categories. A female catchweight division will be introduced to join the seven existing male weight divisions. Foreigners will also be welcome for the first time as they can now compete in a foreign pride division (with a weight limit of 70.3kg).
MIMMA is also set to host the first fighting event held on a cruise ship in international waters. Titled ‘‘Mixed Martial A’RRRR!: Terror on the High Seas’, the cruise will start from the 31st of May till 3rd of June 2015.
