Australian fighter Jordan ‘Showtime’ Lucas has signed a six-fight contract with Asia’s largest promotion ONE Fighting Championship.

Lucas is currently on a seven-win streak and in 2014 was crowned champion of BRACE, an MMA promotion based out of Australia, after defeating Steve Reeks in the first round via rear naked choke.

The twenty year-old fighter told ROUGH he plans to continue fighting at bantamweight, pitting him against the likes of CURRENT bantamweight champion Bibiano Fernandes, Dae Hwan Kim and Ji Xian.

Lucas said he is part of a new breed of MMA fighter, having trained all aspects of fighting from boxing, Muay Thai, Bjj and wrestling.

In addition to his BRACE belt, he also holds a state Muay Thai title, a purple belt under Denis kelly (Carlson Gracie jnr black belt) and competed at the 2013 World Combat Sambo championships in Petersburg, Russia.

“I’m a new breed of fighter where we haven’t had an extensive background in one martial art to then convert to MMA,” he said.

“I’m well rounded and it doesn’t matter where the fight is, I’m comfortable. I believe I can beat anyone on the roster.”

Lucas said he was eying an April starting date, possibly sharing the same card as Ben Askren vs Luis Santos at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Manila on 24 April.

“I’ve worked extremely hard with my team at Nemesis and head coaches Denis Kelly and Phillip Lai to be where I am now. I love what I do and I look forward to putting on a show for the ONE FC fans.”

The signing of Lucas deepens ONE FC’s relationship with BRACE after a 2013 deal which saw the organisation become an official member of the ONE FC network.

BRACE featherweight champion Martin Nguyen earned a contract with ONE FC after winning a competition fight to join ONE FC’s ranks against Luke Standing.
