Chinese boxing sensation IK Yang Lian Hui will get his first world title shot when takes on undefeated Cesar Cuenca for the vacant International Boxing Federation junior welterweight championship in Macau on Saturday July 18.

The event, dubbed “Victory at The Venetian”, will take place at The Venetian Macau’s Cotai Arena with eight bouts announced, including the IBF lightweight world champion Mickey Bey JR who defends his title against Denis “Genghis Khan” Shafikov of Russia.

Hong Kong’s Rex Tso, who was slated to get a shot at the World Boxing Association super flyweight champion, will instead fight on the undercard with an opponent to be announced soon.

Also on the undercard is “The Macao Kid” Kuok Kun Ng, fresh a third round knockout against Chingchai Kiatpracha in March.

Victory at The Venetian will the second event for promoter Top Rank in Macau this year, following the world title shot between Zou Shiming and Amnat Ruenroeng in March.

“Sands China is thrilled to host yet another boxing event at the Cotai Arena this July,” said Dave Horton, global chief marketing officer of Las Vegas Sands Corp & Sands China.

Horton added that these events have helped to promote the growth of boxing in the region and raise the profile of Macau as a world centre of tourism and leisure.

Yang (19-0, 14 KOs), from Dalian, is trained by Hall of Famer Freddie Roach, who also trains Fighter of the Decade Manny Pacquiao and two-time Chinese Olympic gold medalist Zou Shiming.

Yang made his pro debut in 2007 and enters this fight having won seven of his last eight fights by way of knockout.
