One of Singapore’s most promising female prospects Angela Lee has received a major boost ahead of her second ONE Championship bout in Shanghai next month with the signing to Asia’s top professional fighting team, Evolve MMA.

At just 19 years of age, Lee is the youngest female to be invited to join Evolve, alongside a long list of decorated Evolve Fight Team members UFC Lightweight World Champion Rafael dos Anjos, ONE Lightweight World Champion Shinya Aoki, ONE Welterweight World Champion Ben Askren and ONE Strawweight World Champion Dejdamrong Sor Amnuaysirichok.

The signing is additionally significant as it represents the first time Evolve has signed a brother and sister duo, with Lee’s younger brother Christian also announced as Evolve’s newest member.

At just 17, Christian is a multiple-time Junior Pankration World Champion with a Purple Belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.

He was voted ‘Most Outstanding Athlete’ at the 2013 FILA World Championship after winning five World Titles across the disciplines of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Pankration, MMA, and Submission Grappling. He also holds a 1st degree Black Belt in Taekwondo and TDS.

Angela and Christian are the eldest pair of four children. They come from a family of impressive martial artists trained by their father who holds Black Belts in three different martial arts disciplines including a 1st Degree Black Belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and a 6th Degree Hapdosool Master Black Belt. If that is not enough, their mother also holds a 5th Degree Hapdosool Master Black Belt.

Their two younger siblings are expected to follow in their footsteps.

Angela made her ONE Championship debut in Singapore at the Singapore Indoor Stadium, a fight in which she dominated and won via armbar in the first round in front of a roaring crowd of 15,000 fans.


Herself a 1st degree Black Belt in Taekwondo and TDS, she said her dream is to become World Champions in ONE Championship and signing with Evolve is a step towards this goal.

“It means so much to me to be able to join the Evolve Fight Team,” she said.

“I am so grateful for this amazing opportunity and I cannot wait to officially train alongside my new teammates as a member of the team.”

Heath Sims, head coach of the Evolve Fight Team, said Angela and Christian have shown an amazing amount of talent at such a young age.

“They have shown true warrior spirit and dedication during their training, and possess all the qualities to be the first Singaporean MMA World Champions.”

Angela is currently preparing for her upcoming fight inside the ONE Championship cage as she faces Elena Pashnina at ‘Dynasty of Champions’ in Shanghai on 1 September.
