After laying aggressive growth plans for China, MMA promotion Art of War will return to Beijing this Saturday, with a mix of Chinese and international fighters.

The promotion’s 18th show will take place at the Olympic Sports Stadium in Beijing, headlined by Chinese Grappler Kong Handong, who will face South Korean Jung Dawoon.

Kong is currently riding a two-fight win streak, having knocked out Sandeep Kumar at Art of War 16 and submitting Yoon Seob Kwak at Art of War 17 in April. His opponent current stands at two wins and two losses.

Art of War 18 will also see the first round of a four-man tournament to crown new AOW Welterweight World Champion.

In the first bracket of the welterweight tournament former UFC fighter Junior Assuncao (16-5-0) will fight Adam Townsend.

Late last year Townsend suffered a split decision loss to Ernest Chavez, but prior to that had been on an impressive eight-fight win streak.

In the second bracket of the welterweight tournament, Japanese veteran Yuki Sasaki will face Frenchman Tahar Hadbi.

Another French national, Marc Guyon, who trains and lives in Hong Kong will take on Taiwanese fighter Haoyang He while Muha Li of China will face Swede Martin Akhtar.

The weigh-ins for Art of War 18 will take place this Friday.
