The synopsis gives several details of the film!
Yesterday, Mortal Kombat fans got a big surprise when the first images of the franchise’s new film hit theaters. As well as seeing Sub-Zero, Scorpion and Sonya Blade, along with other very famous names from the franchise, we also got to know the mysterious character played by Lewis Tan. Now two new images have been released, along with the official synopsis for the film.
The synopsis is very interesting and shows that the film will touch on smaller and more interesting parts of the history of the game, like the fact that Sub-Zero is a cryogenerator, which in the plot is a completely different species, and not just a human with the ability to control ice. Another interesting thing is that Cole will have to “unlock his arcana” to discover his special powers.
The footage (via Comic Book Movie) shows Liu Kang (Ludi Lin) and Kung Lao (Max Huang) ready for a fight, while we can also see a scene of Cole (Lewis Tan) at the start of the film, when he is will always beat MMA.

The official synopsis says:
In “Mortal Kombat,” MMA fighter Cole Young, used to being beaten for money, doesn’t know where he’s coming from – or why Emperor Outworld Shang Tsung sent his best warrior, Sub-Zero, a cryogenerator from another world, to hunt Cole. Fearing for the safety of her family, Cole sets out to find Sonya Blade after being directed to her by Jax, a special forces major who has the same brand of dragon that Cole was born with. Soon he finds himself in the temple of Lord Raiden, an ancient God and protector of the Earth Kingdom who gives sanctuary to those who bear the mark. There, Cole trains with seasoned warriors Liu Kang and Kung Lao, and with mercenary Kano, as he prepares to team up with Champions of Earth against enemies of the Outworld in a battle for the universe. But will Cole be trained enough to unlock his arcane – the immense power in his soul – in time to not only save his family, but also stop Outworld once and for all?
