New episode explains how Ao joined Kara

Boruto might have its flaws, but one thing the manga and anime are good at is bringing back characters we knew from the Naruto saga, giving them new purpose and even some surprising twists in their lives. This is the case with Ao, a shinobi who fought in the Fourth Ninja World War and has now returned as a member of a powerful and evil organization.

Ever since Ao returned to Boruto: Naruto Next Generations, it was believed that he would just be a retired shinobi, enjoying his life more. That all changed when we found out that he was actually part of Kara, the evil clan associated with the Otsutsuki. In the last chapter of the anime, we have a flashback that shows a bit of how Ao joined the group.

Check it out below:

The 186th chapter of the anime brings new revelations about Ao’s role in the clan. While fighting against Team 7, the ninja reveals that it was Kara who saved him after World Ninja War. He explains that he was almost dead on the battlefield, having lost his limbs, when Victor and Kashin Koji arrived with new prosthetics. They nursed and recovered him and gave him special weapons.

Invigorated, Ao realized he had a new reason for living, to be able to work alongside his rescuers. The curious thing, however, is that Ao doesn’t surrender to Kara like a shinobi. Instead, he offers himself as a “tool”, so the clan can do whatever it wants. It had been previously revealed, but now we feel the full weight of this story and how Ao will affect Boruto’s journey going forward.

In Boruto, Kara is an important organization associated with Otsutsuki.

In Brazil, Boruto: Naruto Next Generations can be viewed on Crunchyroll, while the manga is published by Panini Comics.
