The actor seems to have enjoyed working with director Lana Wachowski!
Matrix 4 promises to be the return to the way fans of the franchise have always wanted. The feature film still remains a mystery in relation to its plot and its history, but we already know that we will have news of the Neo saga. For starters, Neil Patrick Harris (famous for his roles in How I Met Your Mother, Series Unfortunate Events and Exemplary Girl) has already been confirmed in the cast, in an undisclosed role.
Recently, the star gave an interview to Variety, where he was able to talk a little about his experience with the last film in the franchise. According to him, the filming of Matrix 4 was quite different from what he was used to, making even more reference to blockbusters. The reason? Lana Wachowski, the director, would have made a project much more intimate and personal:
“It didn’t seem like a big deal because it was like she [Lana] was at the right time, which was rotating during the day with natural light. Sometimes we would sit for an hour waiting for the clouds to clear and record quickly. You’ve turned pages in half an hour and you’re done … Anyone looking outside thinks a giant movie like this would be 100% made with storyboards, previews and we’d be watching all the shots . I think she’s been through this three times and I suspect she wants to do things her way now. It wasn’t always that you felt you were part of something giant, because it made everything so intimate.
It’s worth noting that this is the first film in the franchise directed solely by Lana Wachowski, as her sister Lilly seems to have been somewhat frustrated with the film industry. This is the first time that Lana has directed a film on her own, although she already has the solo experience of leading the second season of Sense8 without her sister, who was involved in other projects at the time.
As of yet, we don’t know much about the history of Matrix 4. Rumors say the film will bring in a younger Morpheus, while other speculation talks about how the film will be a direct continuation of the movie. original trilogy, even because of the return of the original cast.
Matrix 4 is slated to hit theaters in December 2021. Additionally, the film will also be released digitally via HBO Max, as part of a Warner Bros. initiative. to offer a mixed launch between cinemas and streaming in a pandemic period. Lana Wachowski returns in directing, with a cast composed by Keanu Reeves, Carrie-Anne Moss, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Jessica Henwick, Neil Patrick Harris and Jonathan Groff.
