After more than a decade!
Cloverfield: Monster, a 2008 feature film, is finally getting a direct sequel soon. After the release of two subsequent films that had nothing to do with the plot of the first, fans will have the opportunity to finally watch a sequel to the story.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Paramount Pictures and Bad Robot are developing an appropriate sequence for the film, with Joe Barton signing the screenplay and JJ Abrams taking over production.
Cloverfield is a monster movie shot in the style of found footage. Its plot revolves around a group that tries to escape an attack by a huge monster in New York City while recording with their amateur camera.
The two other franchise films released in 2016 and 2018, 10 Cloverfield Street and The Cloverfield Paradox, were intended as stand-alone films until they were edited to be part of an anthology series.
As of yet, no further details on the upcoming film have been released.
