Monster High: live-action movie announced

Monster High, a toy and animation franchise that shows little monsters living in doom in high school, will win a live-action movie from Nickelodeon. A reboot of the design is also in development. According to Deadline, both projects will launch in 2022.

The new design is a partnership of Nickelodeon and Matel, and will focus on Frankie Stein, Clawdeen Wolf and Draculaura. In the story we will see the characters dealing with the teenage drama of Monster High. The animated series will be directed by Shea Fontana, known for her work on DC Superhero Girls.

Jenny Jaffe, screenwriter of the animated series Big Operation Hero, which is developing the new version of Rugrats, the Angels, will be responsible for the script for the musical film for television. Greg Erb and Jason Oremland of The Princess and the Frog will also be part of the script. The live action will follow the same plot as the drawing, showing the little monsters in their childhood dramas. Zack Olin and Shauna Phelan will also oversee the film.

Ramsey Naito, President of Nickelodeon Animation, spoke about the projects:

“These classic monsters have always captured children’s imaginations and we are delighted and proud to receive Monster High for a new generation of children. We have amazing partners on the Mattel side, who create original content in different formats and, with the experience of Nick’s creative team of Claudia Spinelli, on the animation side, and Zack Olin and Shauna Phelan from the Along with the live action, we can ” look forward to showing the humor and adventures of these characters who defy expectations and take on the world.

Monster High’s little monsters have won fans all over the world!

The live-action movie and animated reboot of Monster High is slated to premiere in 2022.
