Cinema can dive into obscure comic book references!
WandaVision is the spearhead of the MCU’s mystical core and it looks like Doctor Strange: In the Multiverse of Madness can take magic to a whole new level. Along with the Scarlet Witch’s own children, the new feature is expected to introduce other classic wizards like Rintrah, the Magical Minotaur.
According to The Direct, actor Adam Hugill, best known for the award-winning 1917 film, will join the cast of the film to discover the mysterious minotaur Rintrah.
Rintrah’s choice of all of Strange’s allies over the years is at least interesting. He has demonstrated his ability to travel between dimensions on several occasions, like America Chavez (Xochitl Gomez), a new character confirmed in the film.
With these two additions, in addition to the Scarlet Witch and possibly Wicanno, Stephen Strange sets up a strong team ready to face any interdimensional catastrophe. But what entity would she need to bring together so many mystical heroes?
Who is Rintrah?
The character is not as well known to young comic book audiences. The Interdimensional Wizard’s last appearance was in Doctor Strange, Sorcerer Supreme # 51, still in 1993. He demonstrated skills similar to those of Stephen Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch), but nothing close to the realm of our Sorcerer Supreme.
He made his debut in Doctor Strange # 80, in 1986, with his dinosaur master Enitharmon. They were called in to repair Strange’s Levitating Cloak, but found themselves in an astral fight. Strange even owns Rintrah’s body at one point, but the Minotaur doesn’t seem to care.
What will the role of the interdimensional minotaur be in the new movie? Be sure to comment!
While there are no other changes to the Marvel timeline, Doctor Strange: In the Multiverse of Madness opens on March 25, 2022.
