The villain’s son will have an important role in the series!
The Powerpuff Girls live-action series chose actor Nicholas Podany as the son of the ruthless Mad Monkey, one of the most iconic villains from the original cartoon.
Nicholas Podany doesn’t have a lot of acting credits, although he did star in the award-winning play Harry Potter and the Cursed Child as the protagonist Albus, son of Harry Potter.
According to Variety, Poldany will be featured in the CW series pilot as Joseph Mondel Jr., a young man who as a child was obsessed with the Powerpuff Girls despite his father’s grudge against them.
In the Cartoon Network original series, the Mad Monkey was a chimpanzee helping Professor Utônio before mutating in the incident that created the girls.
The Superpower pilot, as the series is called, is meant to be a kind of “continuation” of the drawing, with the girls growing into adults and irritated at having lost their childhood fighting crime.
Chloe Bennet, Dove Cameron and Yana Perrault will be the overpowering girls while Donald Faison will play Professor Utônio. The series still doesn’t have a date to debut on The CW.
