She would be one of the protagonists of the series.
The second season of The Witcher is over and the prequel series, titled The Witcher: Blood Origin, was set to begin filming soon, with Jodie Turner-Smith and Laurence O’Fuarain as the protagonists. Now, however, it has been announced that the actress Queen & Slim will no longer be part of the cast.
Turner-Smith would play Eile, however, Netflix has now revealed that the actress had to quit the project due to scheduling conflicts. Apparently the start of recording was “a little delayed” which made Turner-Smith unable to record on the new date. From now on, the role will be offered to another actress.
In a statement to Deadline, Netflix said:
“Due to a change in the production of the limited series The Witcher: Blood Origin, unfortunately Jodie Turner-Smith will no longer be able to continue as Eile.”
Previously, she had said that Eile is a powerful warrior with the voice of a goddess who gave up her clan and her position as the queen’s guardian to follow her heart and be a nomadic singer. However, a major battle on the mainland forces him to return to the fight in a quest for revenge and redemption.
The limited series The Witcher: Blood Origin will have six episodes. The plot takes place in the elven world 1200 years before The Witcher universe, and will tell a lost story – the origin of the first wizard and the events that led to the crucial “conjunction of the spheres”, when the world of monsters, men and elves have merged to become one.
