Jack Black has joined the cast of Borderlands, a film adaptation of the game of the same name. The actor known mainly for his comedy roles, will play the sarcastic robot Claptrap.
So, Black will do the voice work for Claptrap, which is expected to appear in the film using animatronics or CGI.
The Hollywood Rerporter has confirmed the addition of Jack Black to the cast and spoke with director Eli Roth, who previously worked with the star on the 2018 film The Mystery of the Clock on the Wall.
In the words of the filmmaker:
“I’m so excited to see Jack again. Claptrap is the funniest character in the game, and Jack is perfect for doing it on the big screen. It was one of the best decisions we have ever made. Anyone who’s played the game knows that Jack is perfect for the role. We are very happy that he is adding his comedic energy and endless voice to our film.
Jack Black is known for films like School of Rock, Blind Love and, for the new generation, Jumanji and Jumanji: Next Phase. He is also responsible for giving the floor to Kung Fu Panda Po.
Directed by Eli Roth, Borderlands will also star Cate Blanchett as Lilith, Kevin Hart as Roland, and Jamie Lee Curtis as Tannis. The film’s screenplay is signed by Emmy Award-winning Chernobyl winner Craig Mazin.
