In the interview, he recounts how he found out how popular Scorpion was after shouting “Come here!”, The ninja’s slogan, in one of the essays:
“He has two very famous words, like a slogan or something, something that I really liked. When I performed her most famous shot and said the words in the first rehearsal on set, I had a huge reaction from the cast and production crew. They said “That’s it!” It was there that I realized how popular this scam is. “
Sanada, who has been training martial arts since the age of thirteen, tells us what it was like to create Scorpio’s fighting style for the movie and the pressure he felt when he experienced a character. also emblematic:
“This is my first time playing a famous character in a game, everyone knows their weapons and their style. So I felt a lot of pressure. I discussed the fighting style with the choreographer and the stunt team, then went straight to the rehearsals. I tried to create an original style. Since Hanzo Hasashi is a Japanese character, I tried to make the movements more authentic.
The actor also spoke about Scorpio’s motivations for devoting himself so much to his revenge and the personal drama behind his actions:
“It’s a very interesting role for an actor: a father turned into a fighting machine. Every fight has a reason with an emotion. The audience can understand why they are fighting and what they are thinking about during the fight.
Who is Scorpio?
Born Hanzo Hasashi, Scorpion was a member of an ancient ninja clan called Shirai Ryu. Together with his wife Harumi and son Satoshi, he devoted himself to protecting his village, which had once been attacked by Link Kuei, a rival ninja clan. In a treacherous fight, he was assassinated by Sub-Zero and his soul ended up in the Underworld, where he was tormented for years.
The force of his hatred was so great that he managed to return as a specter, now dominating Hellfire itself as his primary weapon. In an effort to settle scores with Sub-Zero, he takes part in the Mortal Kombat tournament, killing his foe and creating an even greater one: shadow ninja Noob Saibot.
In Mortal Kombat X, once again human, Scorpion discovers with Kuai Liang, brother of the original Sub-Zero and new Grandmaster of Retiree Lin Kuei, that all his suffering was designed by the wizard Quan-Chi, who wanted to use him as a pawn to resurrect the fallen ancestral god Shinnok. From that day on, Scorpion and Sub-Zero put their rivalry aside and began to devote themselves to strengthening their clans and protecting Plan Earth.
Scorpion was the star of the animated feature Mortal Kombat Legends: Revenge of Scorpion, which tells the story of the first Mortal Kombat tournament giving the vengeful ninja much greater importance.
