Hasbro’s Clue game gets animated series

Studio Hasbro Entertainment One (eOne), along with Bento Box Entertainment and Fox Entertainment, are producing an animated series based on the board game Clue, according to Deadline. Although the animation did not receive a synopsis, it has been said that the series “encapsulates the exciting and suspenseful dynamics that have made Clue a global phenomenon for over seventy years.”

For those who don’t remember, Clue is a board game similar to Detective. Originally released in 1959, the game is based on the classic investigative mysteries storyline, where the host is murdered in a mansion, with the goal of players being to find out where and how the murder happened, as well. than who was responsible for it.

This won’t be the first time the game has received an adaptation, as a live-action film version was released in 1985, with Tim Curry, Madeline Kahn, and Christopher Lloyd in the cast. Additionally, a new Clue-based movie has been in development since 2008, and a mini-series premiered in the US in 2011.

Fox Entertainment’s president of entertainment expressed his enthusiasm for the new project, noting that Clue is one of the most beloved intellectual properties of all time:

“‘Colonel Mustard … At the Conservatory … With the lead pipe.’ Just by hearing these quaint phrases, you immediately know what they mean – leaving no mystery as to why Clue is one of the IP games of all time. We couldn’t be more excited to develop it as an animated series alongside eOne and Bento Box. “

Pancho Mansfield of EOne also commented on the announcement, showing his enthusiasm for the partnership with Fox and Bento Box:

“We are delighted to be working again with our partners at Fox and also to be working with Bento Box on this exciting new series. Clue is a classic whodunit property that exudes mystery and intrigue, and has fans all over the world. We can’t wait to share our revamped animated version with the audience. “

Hasbro acquired studio eOne last year, and this is the second series based on one of its games to be announced since. Previously, an adaptation of the game Risco was announced, with Beau Willimon (House of Cards) leading the project. Risk is a strategy game, similar to War, where players seek to conquer territories on the world map. Other eOne projects based on Power Rangers, Dungeons and Dragons and Monopoly are also in development.

Details on the plot, voice actors, or release date of Clue’s animated series have not been released.
