The actress will no longer participate in the production of Star Wars
Known to play the character of Cara Dune, Gina Carano will no longer be part of The Mandalorian. The Lucasfilm studio, responsible for the Disney + series, decided to fire the actress after a series of offensive posts made by Carano on social networks.
In an official statement sent to io9, the studio said:
“Gina Carano is no longer an employee of Lucasfilm and there are no plans to be in the future. His social media posts that offend people because of their culture and religious identity are abominable and unacceptable ”
For several months, Carano has created an embarrassment on social networks. The actress often uses Twitter to make transphobic comments, criticize the use of masks, mitigate the impact of the covid-19 pandemic, propagate conspiracy theories, criticize the Black Lives Matter movement.
The coup de grace came on Wednesday (10), when she posted an anti-Semitic (prejudice against Jews) article on Instagram. Even after deleting the post, fans of the show started a movement on Twitter. In a few hours, #FireGinaCarano (Demita Gina Carano) had already conquered the top of the most commented subjects on the social network.
In The Mandalorian, Gina Carano was one of the protagonists, living adventures alongside the Mandalorian. Many fans have speculated that she could play a leading role in Star Wars: Rangers of the New Republic, a new series announced by Disney.
So far, there is no information as to whether the character will be removed from the story or if we will see another actress playing the role of Cara Dune.
