Another adaptation of the games to come!
According to Deadline, Sony and PlayStation Company are working on an adaptation of the famous Ghost of Tsushima. The live-action film will be directed by Chad Stahelski, a director known for his work on John Wick.
Absolute success, Ghost of Tsushima has sold over 6 million copies since its release in July 2020. In the plot, we follow the journey of Jin Sakai, a samurai warrior who is the last survivor of his clan, using all his might to fight war in search of Tsushima’s livery. The game was developed by Sucker Punch Productions and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment.
In addition to directing the film, Stahelski will also produce the project. He joins Alex Young, Jason Spitz, Asad Qizilbash and Carter Swan in this role. Executive production will be the responsibility of Sucker Punch Productions, while Peter Kang is involved in the studio.
PlayStation production manager Asad Qizilbash said in a statement:
“We are thrilled to partner with Chad and 87Eleven Entertainment to bring their take on Jin’s story to the big screen. We love working with creative partners like Chad, who have a passion for our games, ensuring that we can create rich adaptations that will excite our fans and new audiences.
Ghost of Tsushima will be the second live-action film to be produced thanks to the partnership between Sony and PlayStation Productions, in the footsteps of Uncharted, which is already in post-production and slated for release in 2022. In addition, The Last of US, another famous console game, is gaining an adaptation, this time as a series for HBO.
There are no plans for the release of Ghost the Tsushima.
