Game of Thrones creator George RR Martin signs millionaire deal with HBO

George RR Martin wastes no time. The author of The Chronicles of Ice and Fire, which spawned the hit Game of Thrones, has struck a giant deal with HBO according to The Hollywood Reporter, to create several new shows for HBO and its streaming service, HBO Max.

According to the website, the deal was around “eight digits” or millions of dollars. And in addition to creating new original programs for HBO and working on the spinoff series of Game of Thrones, Martin will also develop the series “Who Fears Death”, an adaptation of the novel by Nnedi Okorafor published in 2011, as well as “Roadmarks” , based on the 1979 fantasy book.

We don’t yet know how the new contract will affect Martin, who is already involved in the spinoff series and still writing the final book of The Ice and Fire Chronicles.

The author’s next series with HBO will be House of the Dragon, the story of the series will focus on the past of the Targaryen clan, hundreds of years before the events of the original attraction and the premiere in 2022.
