Danny Rand opens the game!
Prior to the arrival of Disney +, Netflix was in charge of expanding the Marvel universe to small screens, producing series like Daredevil, Jessica Jones, and Iron Fist. They were all canceled one after the other, with the latter ending in just two seasons. Now Finn Jones, who played Danny Rand at the attraction, has spoken about the team’s plans for the series’ third year.
And in a recent interview for the Collider website, Finn Jones revealed some details about what Iron Fist season three would have been if the series had continued:
“Me and Raven [Metzner], who was the showrunner for the second season, we were sure there would be a third, so we had already thought of everything. I was so excited to do it. It would really be about Danny finally taking on the role of Iron Fist, fully realized, fully charged and totally in control. It would be an amazing story like Danny and Ward in foreign lands, almost like a partner story. And then you would have Coleen in New York, isolated with his newfound power, struggling to come to terms with his identity and power. At some point, we would have met again and we would probably have formed a powerful crazy couple or superhero relationship.
In the same interview, Jones acknowledged the flaws of Iron Fist’s first season and regretted the cancellation, saying he was ready to move on:
“It sucks. It is like the death of a friend or a close family member. You have spent years building this other world within yourself and sharing it with others around the world. Usually with movies or plays you can see an entire arch. There is a journey. But with Iron Fist, it’s like we’ve reached the top. We were getting there. We had just fixed the series. We did a lot of work to get the train back on track.
And then, three weeks after launch, all of the Marvel series were canceled. It was sad. I am dizzy. I felt like I had lost a dear friend, it was a shame. I can’t say much else. “
The future of Iron Fist
After Netflix canceled the series, neither Marvel Studios nor Disney indicated whether they should continue it in any way, nor whether they intend to work with Iron Fist in the future and, s ‘they did, Finn Jones would be picked again or they would. skip the show to restart the character.
Two years after the cancellation, the rights to Iron Fist reverted to Marvel Studios and Disney, who can now do whatever they want with the hero. However, there is no indication that he will return in the near future. The same goes for Daredevil, Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, and other characters who have appeared in Netflix productions.
