Everything we already know about the new Gang movie

In 2019, Maurício de Souza’s beloved characters came to life in cinema in his first film with actors, Turma da Mônica: Ties. The long-awaited film from the exact moment it was announced has been a huge public and critical success here, garnering over 46 million reais in its path and taking over two million people to theaters.

Faced with such success, Maurício de Souza Produções decided to produce a sequel, Turma da Mônica: Lições, also based on a graphic novel by the brothers Vitor and Lu Cafaggi. If you’re not familiar with the story and want to learn more about the film adaptation, now is the time to find out!

In the comics

Launched in July 2015 by the publishing house Panini as part of the Graphic MSP initiative, which reinvents the main characters from the world of characters created by Maurício de Souza, Turma da Mônica: Lições has a much less adventurous tone ( but just as exciting) as the related precedent, Turma da Mônica: Ties. Being a direct sequence, it shows the group in an atypical situation than those recounted in comics: the melancholy of separation and the problems that accompany growth.

In the plot, Mônica, Cebolinha, Magali and Cascão don’t do their homework, and out of fear of what might happen, they decide to come up with a plan to escape school during working hours. Of course, everything goes wrong and the four are forced to suffer serious consequences.

Lesson coverage, by Vitor and Lu Cafaggi: The strength of the group’s friendship is put to the test

Monica, for example, transfers from school, walks away from her friends, and is pranked on in the new place. Chives are forced to go to speech therapy sessions, at the risk of losing their most striking feature. Cascão has the worst destination: you have to take swimming lessons! And now?

Without wanting to give too many spoilers, everyone’s friendship is put to the test, and between one challenge and another, they discover the true meaning of friendship and leave the reader a great lesson: if you understand that friends change, you don’t. have to change friends.

At the movie theater

Produced by Maurício de Souza Produções and distributed by Paris Filmes and Downtown Filmes, the adaptation of Turma da Mônica: Lições was presented to the public for the first time during the CCXP Worlds event, which took place in December 2020, with a small preview that we will see in theaters in a few months.

Apparently the story will be the same as the graphic novel, but taking some creative liberties here and there and leaving a few surprises in store for the most devoted fans. You can check the original preview below:

Who is Tina?

Created by Maurício de Souza in 1964, Tina originally appeared only in comics, ending up much later in Turma da Mônica magazines and winning her own magazine in the 1970s. As a teenager, she was always shown with her little one. friend Rolo and with her best friend Pipa, to whom she always gave loving advice.

At first he followed a hippie look, a tribe that was quite popular at the time, but it has adapted over the years and gone through several transformations, following the fashion of the current decade of its stories. Always avant-garde, Tina ended up becoming a true historical record of the evolution of fashion in Brazil, managing to remain modern even so many years after her first appearance.

From what the early photos of Turma da Mônica: Lessons suggest, the film’s Tina must be true to her first incarnation, embracing the hippie fashion she was known for in her early years, but with a more consistent with our times.

In August 2019, Tina also won her own graphic novel. Entitled Tina: Respect, the story was written and drawn by comic book artist Fefê Torquato, and shows the character coming out of college and working on a newspaper editor. Inside, she faces challenges that go far beyond the professional sphere, from exclusion for being a girl to harassment in the workplace.
