Dominique Thorne did not need a test for the role of Marvel’s heroine

Dominique Thorne, who will play Riri Williams in the Disney + Iron Heart series, has revealed that he doesn’t need to audition to get the part. In an interview with Empire Magazine, the actress explained how the invitation came about.

Thorne, who starred in the 2018 award-winning film If Beale Street Could Talk and who stars in the 2021 Oscar-nominated feature Judas and the Black Messiah, said she was surprised when she got a call from Marvel interested in having her in the role of Heart of Iron.

She says:

“I was at home in Delaware and got a call asking if I would like to play this role. It was the best phone call I could have ever received. I was so shocked, in fact, that it took a long time for things to clear up! (Laughs) I was hoping they would say, like, “Ah, we’ll send the script” or “Send us your test tapes”. But there was none of that. It was like, “Would you like to do that?” It was probably the most unique experience I have ever had as there was no audition.

Dominique Thorne to star in upcoming Marvel Studios series

Iron Heart, announced on Disney’s Investor Day in late 2020, will feature the brilliant young inventor Riri, who produced Iron Man-like armor.

At this time, there is no official release date for Iron Heart on Disney +. For now, the stream is gearing up for the arrival of Falcão and the Winter Soldier, which opens on the 19th.
