Another wise sentence from the symptoid.
The eighth episode of Wandavision aired last Friday the 26th on Disney + and brought a beautiful scene between Wanda Maximoff and Visão. In it, the two speak after Pietro’s death, at the base of the Avengers – Wanda says how empty and sad he feels, Vision then asks, “What is mourning if not love that lasts. ? “. Since then, the phrase has been shared by fans of the show on several occasions and now WandaVision director Matt Shakman has spoken about the response to the phrase.
In an interview with Collider, Shakman was asked if he had seen the public reaction to Visão’s sentencing, to which he replied:
“Yes I noticed. That doesn’t surprise me. I’m generally surprised by the positive response to the show, which is great, but that phrase is really at the center of the show – this conversation, I would say, because I think those are the two sentences. I think that’s both his answer, but also his speech before, about how the feeling of grief is. That’s what the plot is about. And I’m happy to presenting episode 8 so that people would realize, looking at episodes 1, 2 and 3, that that was the idea – a reflection on how you come back from grief – that is the topic of the series. It’s a question of love ”.
Already in an interview with Comic Book, Shakman explained in more detail the origin of the sentence and its connection to what has already been established by Visão:
“It came from the mind of the amazing Laura Donnie. You know, from the author of this episode. Jac Shaffer is a brilliant writer. Everyone she hired to work on the show was amazing and each brought a different perspective. And I think the Laura episode, “In the previous chapters,” that we just showed, is a beautiful reflection on the loss and has this phrase which is beautiful. I think it follows a tradition for Visão, which is that even though he’s not human, he’s almost more human than us. “Something isn’t beautiful just because it lasts. He had one of the best quotes at UCM about humanity and it’s another and there may be more in the future before [da série] to finish”.
