Artist imagines what Taylor Swift would look like as Cristal

With the return of the X-Men’s rights to Marvel, MCU fans are eagerly awaiting the official arrival of the mutants in this universe. In the meantime, many are speculating on what characters we’ll see in the Marvel movies and series, as well as who will play them. Whether it’s based on rumors or just a portrayal of what they’d like to see, some fans take it one step further, representing their choices in the character arts.

That’s what illustrator Steven Defendini did on his Instagram account, where he posted an artwork featuring pop singer Taylor Swift as X-Men member Cristal who is also a pop. star. You can see the illustration done by Defendini below:

Taylor Swift as the Crystal Mutant

Prior to the release of Black Phoenix, there were rumors that Swift would make an appearance as Crystal, due to the fact that many of the cast members were seen performing by the singer while filming. This, however, turned out to be wrong, and who played Crystal in the film was actress Halston Sage, of Paper Cities. Despite this, the rumor inspired Defendini, as the artist mentions in the image caption:

“So… I knew exactly what I would do with Crystal once I got here.” It was 100% clear in my mind, which is not always the case. There was a rumor (confirmed?) About @taylorswift having a brief role as Fênix Negra and although it never happened, I was curious to see how it could be.

The X-Men in the MCU

Kevin Feige, president of Marvel Studios and main MCU creator and producer

While there is no confirmation of when or how the Mutants will arrive in the MCU, fans have high expectations, and Kevin Feige has already given some indications that this will happen, including comments on the matter. in an interview with Screen Rant (via ComicBook):

“You know how much I love the X-Men. I’ve already said that’s where I started. I can’t say anything before announcing it, but rest assured, the discussions have been long and continuous internally.

In a previous interview, Feige also commented on mutants and the possibility of bringing in several characters from the comics that weren’t featured in the movies and adaptations:

“We spent 12 years at Marvel Studios really embracing and unearthing all the character stories that had never been brought to the screen before, but there were situations where when we had a supporting character or a point reference or something for a movie, the department said “don’t forget the characters on that other list and you don’t have access to them.” I’m not talking about Professor X or Wolverine, but there are thousands of characters in these marks and we just shrugged and said okay and found another solution. It will be nice not to have to do that.

With the release of Wandavision and Doctor Strange already announced in the Multiverse of Madness, many believe the X-Men will be brought to the MCU via the Multiverse, which appears to be gaining an increasingly central role in Marvel’s new phase.

What did you think of Taylor Swift as Cristal? What other mutants do you hope to see in the MCU? Be sure to comment!
