The actor was afraid of being the protagonist of Marvel’s first failure!
Anthony Mackie admits he was concerned that Falcon and the Winter Soldier was Marvel’s first failure, as he didn’t believe the studio would be able to achieve the same level of quality as movies in a TV series.
The Disney + program debuts in two weeks and will find the two characters from the Captain America film franchise, Sam Wilson and Buck Barnes, living a new adventure on their own.
In an interview with Variety, Mackie said he was confused and scared to star in a Marvel TV show from super productions such as Avengers: Infinity War and Ultimatum.
In the words of Anthony Mackie:
“I thought we couldn’t do on TV what we did on the big screen. I didn’t want to be the face of the first Marvel franchise to fail. Resembling? We chose black, and now that shit is here, it sucks. It was a big fear for me, because there is a big responsibility in playing a Marvel character.
However, his fears were quickly allayed when he read the script for the series and saw the level of investment Marvel Studios was prepared to make in the series.
Hawk and the Winter Soldier opens on March 19, two weeks after the end of WandaVision, a series that has proven Marvel Studios continues to be successful, even in its television effort.
