Addams family character to receive live action series on Netflix

A spin-off of The Addams Family has just been announced by Netflix. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Tim Burton will be directing a live-action series focused on the character who in Brazil was named Wandinha on Wednesday.

Also according to the website, the streaming platform has ordered eight episodes of the series, which is described as a dark investigative mystery, centered on Wandinha Addams’ years as a student at Nevermore Academy.

The show’s plot will show Wandinha trying to harness her psychic powers, end the murder frenzy plaguing the city, and solve a supernatural mystery that enveloped her parents 25 years ago, all while continuing to cope with the complicated relationships in which she has Never more.

Tim Burton will be the director and executive producer of the project. Alfred Gough and Miles Millar, producers and creators of Smallville, will be the writers and showrunners on the project, sharing executive production with Burton.

The Addams Family emerged in comic book form in the late 1930s, created by Charles Addams. The franchise won a live-action series from ABC in the 1960s, as well as two films in the 1990s, considered classic by fans. Also in animation, the last adaptation of the Addams family was in an animated film released in 2019.

Wednesday does not yet have a release date.
