Japan has a long history of New Year’s Eve shows events and a new global MMA promotion run by former Pride president Nobuyuki Sakakibara will make its debut in Tokyo on New Year’s Eve, headlined by MMA legend Fedor Emelianenko.

Rizin Fighting Federation will held its inaugural show at the Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Tokyo, tonight will a 10-card show that warms up the New Year’s Eve line-up featuring the return of former Pride FC heavyweight champion Fedor Emelianenko in the main event.

In the main event of the Grand Prix Round 1, ONE Championship Lightweight World Champion Shinya Aoki sent Kazushi Sakuraba to the ground early to secure the TKO win.

Thursday’s show will feature the tournament final and a main event between Fedor and Jaideep Singh.
