ONE Championship is heading back to Indonesia next month and has released the first eight fights for its stacked ONE: Odyssey of Champions event.

Taking place at the Istora Senayan indoor arena on 27 September, the main event will see Narantungalag Jadambaa defend his featherweight title against fast rising Russian star Marat “Cobra” Gafurov.

Jadambaa (10-3), a kickboxer from Mongolia, secured the ONE Featherweight World Championship by decision over Japanese stalwart Koji Oishi in 2014. Gafurov (11-0) is undefeated as a mixed martial artist and is one of the fastest rising stars in ONE Championship’s ranks.

Other match ups announced include an exciting featherweight bout between Herbert Burns (5-0) and the explosive Timofey Nastyukhin (9-1).

A middleweight showdown between Leandro Ataides (8-1) and undefeated Russian newcomer Aleksei Butorin (9-0) will feature on the card, along with a light heavyweight clash between Jake Butler (5-1) and Cristiano Kaminishi (8-2).

ONE has also revealed Andrew Leone (7-2) will square off against Yusup Saadulaev (13-4-1, 1NC) in the flyweight division and lightweight veteran Arnaud “The Game” Lepont (11-4) will face Vincent Latoel (15-16-2) at a 68kg catchweight bout.

More bouts will be announced in the near future.

The September card has received an additional boost via an agreement with Indonesian media giant Media Nusantara Citra, owners of the largest free-to-air channel in the country and the bout will be broadcast live on its RCTI station.

Chinese consumer electronics company Haier has been announced as a key sponsor for the event.

Victor Cui, CEO of ONE Championship, said Odyssey of Champions is shaping up to be an absolute spectacle.

“We have some amazing partners here in Jakarta such as MNC, Haier and Kawasaki and together we will bring to local MMA fans one of the strongest cards of the year, featuring some of the most compelling matchups we’ve had thus far,” he said.
