ASIA’S FINEST MMA STARS GO TO WAR WITH THE LEGENDARY PIRATES OF THE SEVEN SEAS.

The inaugural Mixed Martial A’rr event is set for to take place on the Super Star Libra Cruise Ship just off the coast of Phuket on Monday night and it will be headlined by a middleweight grudge match between Nik Harris and Matt Pellino.

Harris (6-2) is coming off back to back ONE Championship wins and is a popular figure on the Malaysian scene. Pellino (0-1) has a reputation for being brash and outspoken and the two have exchanged words on social media in the past. While Harris has a clear advantage in terms of actual MMA experience Pellino wrestled in High School and succeeded in taking seasoned veteran Will Chope down multiple times when he made his pro debut at the Malaysian Invasion Grand Finale last year.

MMA’rr is the property of Tune Talk and is a pirate themed cruise which will take guests from Penang to Phuket and then back again via Krabi. In total there are ten fights on the card which will all be streamed live online.

Other matchups include a flyweight bout between TUF: ‘China’ veteran Allen Chong (1-0) and Thai newcomer Chamlong Chanream and a catchweight contest between Pinoy Trestle Tan (3-3) and TUF: ‘Brazil’ season 3 contender Pedro Paulino (3-3).

Tan is one of four Filipino fighters on the card and two of them are taking on Thai based New Zealanders with Dindo Camansa (0-2) facing Kaiwhare Kara-France (8-5) in the flyweight division and bantamweight Reysaldo Biagtan (0-3) being matched with Caleb Lally (5-2).

Much of the intrigue on the card surrounds the two female fights with Malaysian flyweight Zhen Wei Foo (1-1) taking on Singaporean former swimming star May Ooi (1-0) and Adek Omar (0-1) facing Rachael Short (0-1), also in the 125 lbs division.

A late addition to the fight card sees Thailand based Canadian Liam McGowan (1-1) step up to replace Mostafa Ashouri in a lightweight fight against Malaysia’s Andy The (1-1). Like all the bouts it is set for three five minute rounds under the unified ruleset.
