Mixed martial arts (MMA) has swept across Malaysia like a tidal wave since ONE Championship launched its first show in Kuala Lumpur in 2012.
With support from the Ministry of Sports and Tune Talk, the number of MMA gyms, events and TV programs across the peninsula has given a majority of Malaysians a chance to experience the world’s fastest growing sport.
ONE Championship returns to the capital city on 9 October with a title showdown for defending middleweight champ Igor Svirid who faces undefeated Russian Vitaly Bigdash in the main event of the ONE: Tigers of Asia card.
The bout up was initially set for Shanghai, but has now been moved to Kuala Lumpur and joins a card that will feature homegrown superstars Peter Davis, Ann Osman and Gianni Subba.
The event takes place at Putra Indoor Stadium and coincides with the Grand Finale of Malaysian Invasion Mixed Martial Arts on 10 October.
