ONE Championship has set its first Thailand card for 27 May, with reigning ONE Strawweight World Champion Dejdamrong Sor Amnuaysirichoke to defend his title in the main event.
ONE: Kingdom of Champions will also see a mix of entertainment with Thai bands Bodyslam and Big Ass to be part of its inaugural event.
Newly appointed president of ONE Championship Thailand, Kamol ‘Sukie’ Sukosol Clapp, said the Kingdom of Thailand has an undeniably rich martial arts history.
“One of our greatest champions, Dejdamrong Sor Amnuaysirichoke, cannot wait to return home and defend his belt in front of a hometown crowd.”
Amnuaysirichoke is a former multiple-time Lumpinee stadium champion. He is also the reigning ONE Strawweight World Champion and the first Thai national to claim a world championship in MMA.
“I have waited a long time for this,” Amnuaysirichoke said. “Coming home to Thailand and performing in front of my people has always been my greatest dream. Now, it’s become a reality.”
Ten live ONE events will officially be broadcasted throughout this year, aired every Saturday night beginning 12 March 2016 at 10:00pm on Thairath TV.
