Choi Mu-Gyeom will make the second defense of his ROAD FC featherweight title when he faces former Pancrase and Sengoku champ Marlon Sandro at ROAD FC 29 this weekend.

Choi became ROAD’s featherweight champion after defeating Bae Young Kwon in a headline fight at ROAD FC 14 in 2014. He mounted a successful defence of his title with a decision win over Doo Won Seo at Road FC 21 in February 2015 and says he is confident heading into this Saturday’s card.

“I’m not going to let a foreigner have this belt,” Choi said at the ROAD FC 25 weigh-ins.

“I will defend this title and I will keep it. This time out, I will really show off my boxing skills.”

However his Brazilian challenger has other ideas. “I am thirsty for the belt and I will return home with it. Thank you everybody.”

The co-main event will see a match-up between well-known bantamweights from two sides of the globe: “One Minute” Kim Soo-Chul vs “The Saiyan King” Marcus Brimage.

All but one fighter made weight on the main card. Marcus Brimage was over the weight by 300 grams and will take a purse deduction. He made weight on the second attempt.

On the Young Guns 27 preliminary card, two fighters were unable to make weight on the first attempt. Gennadiy Kovalev was over by 200 grams and was not able to make weight by the final deadline. Hi will have a purse deduction and a deduction of points per round.

Kim Tae-Gyun was over by 200 grams on the first try, passed on the second and will be deducted 50% if his purse.

ROAD Fighting Championship 29 will go down at the Chiak Stadium in Wonju, South Korea.
