Alberto Mina has secured one of the biggest wins in his pro-MMA career, finishing hardened UFC veteran Mike Pyle with a perfectly-timed flying knee.

The welterweight bout was a big test for Mina and the Brazilian native who fights and lives in Hong Kong, stepped up to the plate in impressive fashion.

Mina showed a lot of aggression in the opening round, landing hard shots which sent Pyle to the canvass several times.

But it was early into the second round when Mina landed a flying knee on his opponent and followed up with several heavy blows before the fight was called to a halt at 1 minute 17 seconds of round two.

With the win, the 34-year-old Mina moves to an impressive 13-0; Pyle falls to 27-12-1.

“Thank you, Hong Kong,” an emotional Mina said after his win.

“Fight by fight I get smarter when I train. All I ask is for big names to fight. It is a pleasure to fight the legends of my division.

“Mike is a tough guy but this is the tipping point in my career. I will wait to see who the UFC has for me next. Am I am just out here representing the UFC in Asia – and I’m just doing my job.”

The welterweight bout was part of UFC Fight Night: Dos Anjos vs Alvarez at the MGM Grand Garden Arena.
